Use patron relationships as an early warning system for concerns

Patron input matters. 

School districts are increasingly having to address new issues and concerns from students, staff, and parents that general patron relationships might end up on the back burner. 

One way to help districts navigate trying times is to have an early warning system in place, like a Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC). These patrons have their fingers on the pulse of the community and can (and will) give the district a “heads up,” as they learn about patron concerns. 

However, creating an in-person CAC in a post-Covid world is tougher than ever. We recommend starting a Virtual Citizens Advisory Committee (VCAC) instead.

VCACs are just what they sound like – a group of people communicating with the district virtually. We use bimonthly, online surveys to reach your VCAC participants and let them set the agenda of what you need to focus on. 

The results are strong – with participation of more than 100 people, even in smaller districts. And by allowing the group to set the agenda, you receive timely input that helps you prepare for whatever storm awaits.
